Projecting Youth Futures Workshop

8/16/2016

We're excited to announce the FREE workshops for youth aged 12-24 around Northland (in Kaikohe, Kaitaia and Kerikeri). The workshops will involve youth telling stories of the past and weaving them into their own dreams for their towns and futures using design and projection mapping.

What is projection mapping?! Projection mapping takes moving image (like a film or moving artwork) and projects it onto things like buildings, landscape and objects. It's cool. Check out this cool youtube clip of one example of projection mapping.
We will take work done at the workshops and work with projection mapping specialists to develop an epic installation that will be shown in each of the towns involved.

You don't need any prior knowledge of projection mapping or anything at all really! However you will need to register for the 2 day workshops, see contact details on the poster below! Or check out the ĀKAU facebook page for updates.

ĀKAU HIKOI AKL 2016

AKAU Hikoi 2016 was a blast! We were so proud of how our students presented themselves in public, asking provoking questions to business people and architects alike, making university students and professionals question their social impact through design. By sharing their story to  a group of uni students in a lecture theater, Rakky and Sky delivered a korero that was tear jerking and inspiring - we were blown away by the response people had to Rakky and Sky and their journey. Thank you again to all the people who made it possible, our funders, our students and all the incredible and inspiring places we visited in AKL. You’re awesome.
Here's a wee run down of the 3 day adventure:
