ARCO Pop-up! is coming to the main street of Kaikohe!

ARCO Pop-up! is an open space that through engagement in design, we intend to give opportunity and a safe space for creative discovery, expression and community involvement. The project will enable youth to find belonging and discover their capacity, identity and purpose. We will ofer:
01. Drop-in
Weekdays ARCO Pop-up! will operate as an exhibition space and as a communal environment for creative work.
02. Design workshops
ARCO will lead community design projects, with a goal to be working on actual projects in Kaikohe.
03. Instructional workshops
For skill development in various art/design disciplines, facilitated by professionals eg. Architects, filmmakers, artists, designers.

BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!
In order for this to happen we are looking for the following bits and bobs. More info can be found on our website. If you, or someone you know, might be able to help out with these things we would LOVE to hear from you.

01. Furniture

- Tables
- Stools/Chairs
- Cutlery / Cups etc
- Shelving
- and in our dream world a coffee machine!

02. Art Supplies
- Paper
- Pens
- etc…anything we can get!

03. Food
- We'd love to offer a cuppa tea and a healthy snack to those using the ARCO Pop-up! space. If you have a knack in the kitchen or extra fruit kicking around, let us know!

04. Building materials
-paint for the exterior (black)
-sign writing for the shop front

05. Sponsorship
-if you have something you'd like to offer, we'd love to hear from you!

THANK YOU!

Element Magazine

As I sat in a local cafe for a work meeting yesterday it was a bit of a surprise to see the smiling faces of ARCO peeking out at me from the front page of the NZ Herald! And even more of a surprise when I got home and realised that we were also on the front cover of Element Magazine. It's no VOUGE cover photo, but we'll take what we can get! The article is also online here.

Element Magazine is working with Akina to get the 11 social enterprises on the Launchpad programme out there and we are still blown away hearing about the 10 other teams we are working alongside to further our business's. Good work Launchpad crew!

The online version of Element also has a short film, interviewed by Te Radar, of each of the Launchpad teams. You can see ARCO's film here.

Launchpad workshop #1

The ARCO team has been on an incredible roller coaster ride over the last couple of days with the inaugural  Ākina Launchpad workshop.  In a room full of 10 other incredible participant teams and their support teams we got to know each other, hear about the great social enterprises we will be surrounded by for the next 6 months and investigate our own business models.

On top of the extreme brain power surge and making a bit of an emotional scene (two days running!), the ARCO story made it to live national television on Te Karere.

We are so privileged to have an incredible support team to help us reach our goals and help us on our journey. Thank you to everyone for your support so far, in particular to the  Ākina, KPMG and Contact crew. You're awesome!
