We'd like to say a HUGE thank you to all the incredible people who helped out with time, energy, advice, materials, tools, experience, aroha, plants, creativity and fun on the Kaikohe Community Build project, Nga Kete Matauranga E Toru O Kaikohe!
The space looks amazing and it is all thanks to you all. It was a treat to get back to Kaikohe after a week away and see the space in all it's glory!
A special mention to the HYPE crew and the amazing Linda Tiatoa, CBEC for funding the materials and Del the site saftey manager, Ngapuhi Iwi Social Services, Te Whenua, Del & Mel (what a legendary couple!), Risers Collective for the incredible graffit work, Jellyologist Jess, Gerd for his incredible patience with us and his carpentry and teaching skills, Verbina aka super mum, Tony the manuka hero, Christian & the good souls at Te Hauora O Kaikohe, Stu the guerrilla gardener, Brother John, Martin, DJ Hype for the sweet tunes, Te Runanga-a-iwi o Ngapuhi for lending and blessing the land, Resene for the paint for the black wall and the Botanical Mural Workshop, Presto Laundromat, and the plant fairy god mothers, Kirsty, Sarah & Meri. If we forgot you, come and tell us off. We do appreciate you, promise!
But of course, the stars of the day are the youth of Kaikohe. They've shown us their incredible design skills, wowed us with their creative talents and been really awesome to hang out with to boot.
