Taonga Wāhine

WHERE DO YOU FEEL SAFE?
WHO MAKES YOU FEEL SAFE?

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL SAFE?

To celebrate and promote women’s health and safety, ĀKAU facilitated workshops in Kaikohe where w
āhine (women) of all ages were asked these same questions. To them safety was whānau & community, church, personal tāonga and the home. Everyone should feel safe at home.
Taonga Wāhine captures their stories through mark making, story telling and these beautiful portraits by Caren Davis, which are now available for purchase. Profits from the sale of Taonga Wāhine works go to Women's Refuge.

These are their stories of safety.
